The 9 Steps to Financial Freedom
I want to share with you my 9 steps to financial freedom that I have put into practice.
1. Attitude
This is really important. How would you rate your attitude?
Do you usually have a positive viewpoint?
Or a negative one?
When I first started learning about how important my attitude was, I began a little project.
When I was working or doing something, I’d check in with myself.
For example, if I was doing a chore like the dishes.
I’d ask myself how I was feeling at the moment.
Was I angry about having to do the dishes or annoyed?
Or was I happy to do them?
Ok, well maybe not everyone likes to do the dishes. But what if I was always happy about it?
Try forcing yourself to smile even when you don’t feel like it.
I feel like this little exercise is one of the most important 9 steps to financial freedom.
Smiling creates joy.
I felt stupid doing it at first but then once I did it, I noticed how quickly my mood improved.
Tip: It takes more muscles in your face to frown than it does to smile.
2. Being Consistent
When you do something consistently, you get better results.
They say practice makes perfect.
When you are doing anything like learning a sport, an instrument, doing online marketing; the more you do it the better you get at it.
A good rule of thumb is to set aside the same time everyday and do your marketing.
If you are writing articles or calling people about your business, do it everyday (if possible).
If you can only do it three days a week, that’s ok.
So, dedicate the time you have for those days to your marketing.
And try to remember to keep these 9 steps to financial freedom in your mind.
Sometimes, we want to give up. If what we’re doing just isn’t working just keep pushing through.
Every time you do that, you’ll be sure to the results you want.
3. How To Be Frugal
Being frugal doesn’t mean being cheap.
It just means that you are being more economical with your spending.
Where can you save some extra cash in your budget?
Do you go out for coffee?
Do you eat out at restaurants?
Rent movies on the weekends?
Do you clip coupons?
Buy what’s on sale?
I got some really good advice when I was a teenager.
I never forgot it.
“When you go shopping for anything, you should ask yourself,"
"Do I need this or do I want this?”
That advice alone got me started toward my 9 steps to financial freedom! I never thought about shopping like that before!
So, now when I see a shirt or some shoes I like, I ask that same question.
It has saved me a lot of money.
If you’re interested in learning how to budget better and be more frugal, check out this small book "The Automatic Millionaire" .
I really got a lot out of it.
4. Goals
Begin by writing down some of your desires or goals.
They say that once you write things down there’s a much higher chance that you’ll actually get it.
For example, if you want to achieve financial freedom online, you'll want to create a sample marketing plan for the marketing of your business.
A teacher once showed me something. Get a pad of paper and write something in it everyday.
So before I go to bed, I get my pad out and write something in it.
You can title it My goals for my 9 steps to financial freedom, for example.
Then I look over all my other goals. That keeps them fresh in my mind.
I also have a column where I write down when I want to achieve that goal.
I try to be as realistic as possible.
If you would like some extra help, try getting some books or cd’s about goal writing.
They definitely help!
5. Networking
This word seems to be everywhere nowadays. Not being a natural networker, I had to learn.
I bought some books about networking and began to slowly get out of my house more often to meet people.
To be honest, networking with other people is fun.
If you’re shy like I was, take it slowly. I began by having small conversations with other people that had nothing to do with my business.
I realized how important this was and added it as one of the 9 steps to financial freedom list.
All I did was join a chamber of commerce and that’s how I started.
When you network with others, you will soon find valuable business connections.
And those connections can bring you more money.
6. Law of Attraction
While some people think this may be science fiction, there is a lot to learn from it.
If you’ve ever heard of “The Secret” then you know all about it.
What we think about becomes reality.
Positive thoughts and images in your mind will produce the results you want.
And the same goes for negative thoughts and images.
Begin to imagine what you would do if you truly had financial freedom.
You could buy whatever you wanted.
Travel whenever you felt like it.
How does that make you feel?
Excited?
Full of joy?
Happy?
Let those feelings be your inspiration and use these 9 steps to financial freedom to get you to your goals.
7. Taking Action
This is really important.
You can spend all your time writing down your goals and imagining your riches but never take action on it.
Some people just freeze.
They are scared that they might fail.
Or it just won’t happen to them because they feel like they don’t deserve it. Have you ever had these feelings?
I know I have.
It takes courage to make our dreams come true.
It seems like there are so many things out there trying to stop us - even ourselves.
The thing that got me to take action was this:
What if 10 years from now, I look back and regret that I never did what I truly wanted most?
How would that make me feel? What if I never took action on the 9 steps to financial freedom?
Those fears made me take action.
I wanted to be successful so badly and I knew that I must make it a reality.
If it’s to be, it’s up to me!
8. Tithing
This is something I learned recently.
Basically, it was something I was already doing but I was unaware of the real benefits.
Let me explain.
When you tithe (give or donate) your money to someone or an organization, that sets up a really good energy vibration.
When you give more than you get, it’s amazing how much more you get in return.
But don't spend more than you can afford. There should be a balance.
9. Using Your Time
How do you spend your free or extra time? Don’t have any? See where you can find some.
If you really want to be free and do whatever you want, time is money.
And if you practice these 9 steps to financial freedom you’ll be one step closer to your financial dreams :o)
Tips for finding time:
- Maybe you’ll want to cut down some t.v. watching.
- Maybe you’ll want to wake up earlier or go to bed later.
- Maybe you can ask for some help for some of the things you have to do. That way you can be freed up.
You can use more of your extra time for money-making projects. Yeah!
